I have a Grizzly 14" w/risers to 16". I want to re-saw 6"x6x2 pieces. Can I do with regular fence or do I need higher re-saw fence? How high are re-saw fences? Can I cut with 1/4 inch blade or 1/2" blade? Thanks, Bob |

Adding risers to a 14" bandsaw will increase your cutting height from 6" to 12". I use a triangle with a rounded face. This is securely mounted to a rectangular base that I c-clamp to the table. The short rounded fence keeps the wood parallel to the blade, while allowing me to adjust the tracking as I cut to a line drawn on the edge of the board. The triangle is about 6" tall. I use a 1/2" very coarse blade, and be sure that the blade guides are set up correctly. And be careful if your tracking is wrong the blade can pop through the side of the board and eat your fingers in a heartbeat. Use push sticks, and push blocks anytime that you are near the blade. Expose only enough blade to do the job. By the way practice on scrap first. It takes a few cuts to get the feel of it. Al |
